Literature Text

Christine was in her pj’s sitting at her desk studying mutant cases for future missions, as ordered by Professor Xavier to help improve her mutant abilities. Even though she was nineteen years old now, she still continued to learn at Xavier’s School for Gifted Children since she has not fully mastered her mutant powers, according to Charles Xavier himself. That’s what it meant to be a mutant. Unless you have full control, staying at the school was important.

She glanced at the clock and saw it was 1:30am. She sighed, wondering if she was ever going to get done. Her eyes grew tired and strained to focus at the papers with her desk lamp as her only light source.

Just then, she heard a silent vacuum bamf noise behind her. She swiveled around in her chair with a smile, already knowing she had a familiar visitor.

“Hey, Kurt.”

A man stood before her on his two toes. He was a blue-skinned creature, obviously another mutant, with glowing yellow eyes and hair such a dark blue that is almost looked black. He had two large fingers and a thumb for hands, and a long pointed tail swaying behind him. He wore brick red pants that untied at the waist and a tan long-sleeved shirt with the sleeves rolled up nearly to his elbows. He was known for his incredible speed while teleporting through dimensions and has used his ability several times to save her.

He said nothing in the dark corner of her room. Only his glowing yellow eyes stared at her as he slowly walked towards her.

“What’s wrong, Kurt?”

Still silence. Instead, he embraced her with a passionate kiss. He cupped her cheeks while he leaned over her. She closed her eyes and didn’t resist.

They had been going out for a couple years now. They had met on a mission when Christine was sixteen; her first real mission with the other X-men teachers. After the mission, they both fell in love and began dating each other only a few months later.

Kurt got down on his knees, still holding her cheeks. “Why are you with me, Christine?” He asked in his thick German accent.

Her smile faded. “Kurt, we’ve had this conversation several times–“

“But why me?” He interrupted.

She sighed. “Because I love you, more than anyone else.”

“But you could of had any other man that was... more human than I.”

“Did someone harass you again about your looks? Is that was this is about?” He just knelt his head. She sighed again before continuing. “Look, I love you for who you are. You’re kind, smart, funny, not to mention incredibly handsome.”

“I’m not all that great.”

She lifted his head so that his eyes could meet hers. “But I think so. Isn’t that enough?”

He smiled and hugged her. “Danke.”

Before she could answer, she realized he had teleported her to the bed. She was lying on her back with him on top, hovering over her.

“You always know just what to say, Christine. Your Opa has raised a fine woman."

She smiled. "Thank you, Kurt. My grandfather was a very kind man."

"You never really explained your past to me. Why?"

She looked up for a moment, thinking. "Not really sure. I guess I never really had a sad past like the majority of everyone else here."

"All you have ever told me was that your Opa was the only other mutant in your family."

"You want me to discuss this with you now? I have homework to--"

She tried to get up, but he held onto her and gave her a desperate look. "Please, Christine. I want to know more about you starting with your childhood. Please..."

She sighed and laid back underneath him. "Alright. Where should I begin?"

"How about with your mutant abilities. How did your family react to all of this?"

"Well, it was thanks to my grandparents. My grandfather was a 'fishman', as you know, so his mutant powers effected his whole body; unable for him to blend in with human society since he looked similar to the creature of the black lagoon. He fell in love with my grandmother, a human, but she was blind."

"Blind?"

"Yes. But she knew what my grandfather was and loved him for who he was. They soon married and gave birth to my father. He was born a human, so he was able to live a normal life and marry my mother, another human. But when I was born, everyone thought I was going to be human."

"But your powers had to develop, didn't they?"

She nodded. "When I was in elementary school, I was playing on the frozen lake with my friends when the ice cracked and I fell through. My friends ran to get help, but while I was underwater, I found out I could breathe. I swam with such ease to the surface and by the time I got home, my parents found small scales in patches on my body."

"What did your parents do."

"Of course my mother was scared at first, since she grew up in a normal human family, but my dad was only worried because of how society would look at me now. My parents only coped with it when they saw I never changed when I went back to school."

"Didn't the other children pick on you?"

"Of course! But I wasn't going to let them get to me. It wasn't until I got home from school one day beaten up that my parents decided to have me live with my grandparents. My grandfather taught me how to use my powers and my grandmother taught me how to love people for who they are inside and not their outer appearance."

"And so here you are, caring and accepting everyone for who they are no matter what." He smiled and kissed her forehead.

She smiled back. "And loving you."

He wrapped his arms around her and laid next to her. "Ich leibe dich, Christine. I am glad to have found someone as unique as you."

"That goes for me too, Kurt."

He smiled, wrapping his tail around her waist in a secured manner. “You know Jean and Logan’s going to kill me, right?”

“What makes you think that?”

“Because Wolverine’s a bit protective of you and he can smell my scent on you and you know how he hates seeing us together. Then there’s Jean who just knows everything that goes on around here thanks to her ability.”

She giggled. “Don’t worry about it. We’re ‘big kids’ now. We can take care of ourselves.”

He sighed. “I suppose... It’s still a scary thought though.”

She kissed him playfully on the nose and smiled. “You worry too much, my little Nightcrawler.”

He grinned back at her and squeezed her close to him. They slept together through the night in peace. By the time morning came around, they both got up and kissed each other good-bye until later. And just as he came, Kurt teleported to the outside of the school as if he was there the whole time.

But as predicted, Logan said he could smell Christine’s fresh scent on Kurt, and found the scent to be overpowering. He spent most of the day chasing Kurt around the school while Christine did her best not to laugh out loud in front of them.

[ END. ]</i>
I wrote this li'l fanfic a few years back when I first created Christine. It's not much, but it's a little back story of Christine's past. Of course this story was when they were younger compared to the series now in the comics.

Well, enjoy!

DANKE = Thank You
OPA = Grandpa
ICH LIEBE DICH = I love you
